Our Initiatives

Four initiatives. One commitment to stronger futures.

Helping Hands Gives develops community-centered programs that help children, youth, young adults with disabilities, and families access the resources, skills, safety, and connections they need to move forward.

Through community partnerships, practical initiatives, and scholarships, we create opportunities that encourage participation, dignity, inclusion, and long-term growth. Each initiative responds to a different need, but all four work together to help individuals and families build stronger futures.

Bloom: Early Development & Family Support

Strong beginnings help brighter futures take root.

Bloom supports young children and their families during the important early years of development. The initiative connects caregivers with practical information, age-appropriate learning materials, developmental activities, and community resources that encourage children to learn, communicate, play, and grow.

Bloom recognizes that caregivers are a child’s first and most important source of support. Our goal is to help families feel informed, encouraged, and connected as they navigate their child’s development.

Bloom programs may include: early learning and developmental activity kits; books, sensory materials, and play-based resources; caregiver resource events; early-intervention awareness; connections to qualified community providers; and assistance for families experiencing financial barriers.

Our goal: To give children opportunities to grow while helping their families feel supported from the beginning.

Thrive: Independent Living & Transition to Work

Skills for today. Confidence for what comes next.

Thrive helps transition-age youth and young adults with disabilities develop practical skills for greater independence at home, at work, and throughout the community.

Programs are designed to be hands-on, age-respectful, and strengths-based. Rather than doing things for participants, Thrive creates opportunities for individuals to learn, practice, make decisions, and become more confident in their abilities.

Thrive programs may include: cooking and meal preparation; grocery shopping and household management; personal organization and community navigation; budgeting, banking, and financial literacy; self-advocacy and decision-making; workplace readiness; résumé and interview preparation; career exploration; volunteer experiences; and scholarships for employment or independent-living resources.

Our goal: To help young people build the everyday, financial, and employment skills they need to pursue greater independence and meaningful participation in their communities.

Protect: Child Safety & Family Preparedness

Practical knowledge can help families feel safer and more prepared.

Protect provides children and families with accessible tools that support safety, awareness, and preparedness in everyday life. The initiative focuses on preventive education and practical resources that families can use at home, online, while traveling, and throughout the community.

Programs are designed to be age-appropriate, respectful, and family-centered. Protect may also collaborate with child-serving organizations, first responders, healthcare professionals, and community agencies to expand access to reliable safety information.

Protect programs may include: child identification and family safety kits; home and community safety resources; emergency-preparedness materials; online and digital safety education; transportation and water-safety awareness; age-appropriate education about personal boundaries, trusted adults, and asking for help; and community safety events.

Our goal: To help children develop safety awareness while equipping caregivers with tools that support preparation, prevention, and confident decision-making.

Protect is a preventive education and community-support initiative. It does not replace emergency, medical, legal, investigative, or child-protection services.

Belong: Autism, Disability Inclusion & Family Support

Every person deserves to be seen, welcomed, and included.

Belong creates opportunities for autistic individuals, people with disabilities, and their families to participate, connect, and feel valued within their communities.

Inclusion should be more than an idea. It should be reflected in the places people visit, the activities they enjoy, the relationships they build, and the opportunities available to them. Belong works with families and community partners to reduce barriers and create more welcoming experiences.

Belong programs may include: sensory-considerate community events; inclusive recreation and volunteer opportunities; family connection activities; disability and autism resource navigation; accessibility projects; family support and comfort kits; community inclusion campaigns; and scholarships that help individuals participate in educational, recreational, or community opportunities.

Our goal: To build communities where individuals with disabilities and their families experience genuine connection, meaningful participation, and a lasting sense of belonging.

Scholarships and Access

Dignity and Accountability

Dignity and Accountability

Financial barriers should not prevent someone from learning a skill, joining an activity, or pursuing an opportunity. As funding becomes available, Helping Hands Gives will provide scholarships, sponsored materials, and program assistance aligned with our four initiatives.

Dignity and Accountability

Dignity and Accountability

We are committed to presenting individuals and families as capable participants—not passive recipients of help. Each project will have a clear purpose, an identified community need, and outcomes that allow us to evaluate and communicate its impact.

Four Initiatives, One Connected Mission

Bloom helps children and families establish strong beginnings.
Thrive builds practical skills for independence and employment.
Protect strengthens child safety and family preparedness.
Belong advances disability inclusion and family connection.

Together, these initiatives allow Helping Hands Gives to support individuals and families at different stages of life while remaining focused on one shared purpose: helping every person feel supported, capable, safe, and included.

Be Part of the Work

Meaningful community impact happens when people and organizations work together. Helping Hands Gives welcomes partnerships with local nonprofits, therapy centers, homeschooling programs, healthcare professionals, and community leaders.
